Trek X-Caliber 7 Hardtail MTB 2020 - Red

Season:2020

Brand:Trek

Code:280622020RED

Beeline: The X-Caliber range is the mid range hardtail MTB from Trek, designed for the weekend mountain biker which offers great performance at a great price.

The X-Caliber frame is lighter than that on the Marlin range of mountain bikes, using Trek’s Alpha Gold Aluminium rather than the Silver featured on the Marlin range. Designed using Cross Country race inspired geometry for a fast, confident ride and features internal cable routing and provision for a dropper seatpost.

Sizes X-Small and Small come equipped with 27.5” wheels, Medium size and larger are all equipped with 29” wheels. Likewise fork travelled is different on the X-Small which features an 80mm travel fork with 100mm travel on all other models.

Trek X-Caliber models are a Unisex model; Trek’s market research has found that many female riders want the same geometry as the mens model, just in a size that fits! Therefore the X-Caliber comes in wide range of sizes, uses a unisex saddle and choice of colours.

This X-Caliber 7 is the first of three X-Caliber models, equipped with Shimano Acera 9 speed shifters, Alivio mechs and a Shimano double chainset for a 2x9 drivetrain, with a wide 11-36 cassette for a wide range of gears and Shimano hydraulic disc brakes for reliable and powerful braking.

The RockShox 30 Silver Fork, with Solo Air Spring, 30mm stanchions and lockout provides 100mm travel (except for size X-Small which has 80mm travel).

Available in this Radioactive Red or Matte Slate colour.

The X-Caliber 7 has a listed weight of 13.8kg for size Medium, a great bike for the recreational mountain biker looking for a great value hardtail for weekend trail rides.

Trek: X-Caliber 7 is the perfect entry point to fast cross-country riding and racing. It's a fully capable hardtail mountain bike with expert tech where it matters most, like in the lightweight and durable alloy frame, RockShox fork, Shimano drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes.

It's right for you if....You're new to mountain biking and want a high-value bike that's perfect for local XC trails and even racing. You want to invest in the parts that make a difference in performance – frame, suspension and brakes – and want a bike you won't immediately outgrow as your skills advance.

The tech you get: A lightweight Alpha Gold Aluminium frame, a RockShox 30 Silver 100mm suspension fork with a lockout, a dependable 2x9 Shimano drivetrain, Shimano hydraulic disc brakes and wider Boost141 hubs for increased wheel strength and better tire clearance. This hub size is standard for higher-end wheel sets, making it easy to upgrade your wheels if you're looking for a fast way to increase performance.

The final word: X-Caliber 7 is a great cross-country mountain bike at great value. It has the same features found on higher-end bikes – like internal cable routing, dropper post compatibility, a tapered head tube and Boost hub spacing – all on a platform that's easy to upgrade down the line.

Why you'll love it:

  • It gets you into the world of cross-country riding and racing at a great price, and it's a mountain bike that can grow with you as your skills advance
  • The sleek internal cable routing gives you clean looks, protects your cables and makes it easy to upgrade to a dropper post for even more capability
  • Smart Wheel Sizing means you'll get the fastest wheel that fits (29˝ wheels on larger frames, 27.5˝ wheels on smaller frames)
  • The RockShox air fork has a rebound adjust and can be tuned to the rider’s weight, and it’s way higher quality than what you’d normally get on an MTB at this price
