Description

Season : 2020

Code : 273921282185

Weight : 0KG

Beeline: The Specialized Roubaix Expert is designed using Specialized's endurance road geometry for a comfortable riding position delivering a high level of performance but with ride comfort built in. This is helped by the ground breaking FutureShock headtube damping system which works like a suspension system and absorbs the bumps from the road to help create a super smooth ride by allowing a small amount of movement and compression at the front end, it sits above the headtube and so has no impact on power transfer and delivery.

This Expert model features Futureshock 2.0 which uses a knob atop the stem to allow for adjustment on the fly.

The frame design is unisex; the wide size range accommodates all body heights, with the Power Sport saddle suitable for men and women, and bar widths in proportion with the frame size.

The Roubaix Comp Expert is the model above the Roubaix Comp Ultegra Di2 in the Roubaix hierarchy, using the same FACT 10R frame and largely the same components but upgrades the Futureshock and features Roval Carbon 38 Disc wheelset.

Available in a choice of three colours: Gloss Crimson – Cast Berry, Dusty Turquiose/Cast Blue and Satin Black/Carbon (as shown here).

Made from Specialized FACT 10R Carbon the Roubaix is lightweight and comfortable; carbon as a material absorbs some of the buzz and vibration from the road. The seat tube is aerodynamic making the Roubaix frame more aerodynamic than the Specialized Tarmac and lighter than the Venge.

The Roubaix Comp Ultegra Di2 comes equipped with Shimano Ultgera 11 speed electronic shifters and mechs with an Ultegra compact chainset (50/34 chainrings) and a 11-34 cassette; this delivers a wide range of gears on a double chainset for better pedalling efficiency and performance than a triple chainset.

Hydraulic STI levers are used with Shimano Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes for powerful braking, especially in wet weather.

Roval C 38 Carbon Disc wheels are a lightweight, aerodynamic carbon wheelset with 38mm depth for performance and stability, equipped with Specialized Pro tyres in a 28mm width  which offers a greater contact area with the road for a smoother ride.

The Roubaix Expert offers a high level of performance whilst delivering an unmatched level of ride comfort, ideal for the rider looking for a bike to enjoy road rides on and features the latest technology.

Specialized's text below was written at the time of launch, just prior to the 2019 Paris-Roubaix race. How did the new design fair? It won, and also got third place for good measure, so that's seven Paris-Roubaix wins now!

Specialized: With six wins at Paris-Roubaix, our Roubaix has proven that Smoother is Faster. Until this moment, however, smooth has admittedly come with some compromises. But not anymore. The all-new Roubaix Expert now delivers compliance without compromise by introducing a radical new Future Shock 2.0 that gives you more control and damping options, a new Pavé seatpost that creates our most balanced Roubaix to date, aerodynamics that equal the Tarmac, and a Rider-First Engineered™ frame that’s shed some serious weight. Is it still comfortable? Sure, but don’t call it a comfort bike, because performance was behind every engineering decision we made. This is the new Roubaix.

For the build, we spec’d the Expert with Shimano Ultegra Di2 for its powerful hydraulic disc brakes and super crisp 11-speed shifting. Of course, you’ll be rolling on stupid-fast carbon fiber wheels courtesy of a Roval C 38 Disc wheelset.

Key Features:

  • The new frame delivers compliance without compromise via the perfect balance of aerodynamics, light overall weight, compliance, and Rider-First Engineering™. With tube shapes that were born in our FreeFoil Shape Library and validated in the Win Tunnel, the new Roubaix’s as aero as the Tarmac SL6. Meanwhile, to ensure the weight and ride quality, we turned to a Rider-First Engineered™ design to deliver optimal stiffness and compliance across all sizes, from 44 to 64cm. Of course, the frame has shed some serious weight in the process. And to prep you for your own Hell of the North, we’ve made room for 33mm tires.
  • To go along with the new frame, we’ve also developed a totally-new S-Works Pavé seatpost. Not only is it the first compliant seatpost that’s ALSO aerodynamic, it does so without any additional weight or finicky contraptions. Starting with the same D-shape design found on the Tarmac, we took its compliance a step further by building additional flex into the upper and developing a new drop-clamp design in the frame. This provides plenty of compliance, while staying perfectly balanced with the front-end, so you get a smooth, balanced ride no matter how rough the road.
  • The Future Shock 2.0 is the result of our pro riders’ demands for the cobbles of Roubaix. It’s smoother, faster, and gives you more control via a knob atop the stem. This knob adjusts compression from fully-open to stiff, while hydraulically-damped internals control rebound. Add it up, and this latest version will reduce fatigue and increase your speed, no matter the terrain. The new Smooth Boot, top cap, and Future Stem also enhance the aesthetic, so you get a clean transition from head tube to stem.

    Buyers Guide

A road bike can have a variety of uses, from commuting to racing, from touring to getting to fit. The bikes are available in a mixture of materials; aluminium, carbon, steel and equipped with a variety of components

    For the Beginner Road Rider

Frames are usually made from aluminium, which is light, strong and durable. There are steel options in certain models, these tend to be a bit heavier but a little more comfortable too. The frames are usually paired with a carbon fork as this absorbs some of the buzz and vibration from the road.

Many have the capability to be fitted with mudguards and racks for commuting.

Geometry refers to the length of tubing on the frame and will affect your position on the bike and the ride. Most entry levels bikes will use a more relaxed geometry for a more comfortable riding position.

Gears are usually referred to as 8, 9 or 10 Speed, this refers to the number of sprockets on the rear cassette and when paired with a chainset (normally two chainrings) leads to 16, 18 or 20 gears. As you move up the pricepoints the level of components increases leading to more gears, smoother shifting and lighter weight.

Examples: Specialized Allez range, Trek Domane AL range, Specialized Dolce womens range

    For Sportives or Endurance Riding

Frames are made from carbon, lighter than aluminium and delivers a smoother ride as carbon absorbs the buzz and vibration from the road. Some of the frames also come with features to absorb more from the road, such as Trek Isospeed on the Domane and Specialized Roubaix’s Future Shock damping.

Geometry - Sportive / Endurance are designed for ride comfort and as such often feature a longer wheelbase than a race bike, and a shorter top tube and longer head tube for a more relaxed position.

Gears – Generally start with Shimano Tiagra 10 speed, then progress to Shimano 105, Ultegra and the top of the range Dura-Ace, all of which are 11 speed. Ultegra and Dura-Ace are also available in an electronic version, as is Sram’s eTap wireless groupset.

Examples: Specialized Roubaix range, Trek Domane range, Specialized Ruby range for women

    For Racing or Performance

Frame – Carbon frames, designed for stiffness to weight or aero frames designed for aerodynamic performance.

Geometry – is more aggressive with longer top tubes and shorter head tubes to stretch the rider out and make the front mass lower for better aerodynamics.

Examples: Trek Emonda, Cervelo R-Series, Specialized Tarmac, Trek Madone, Specialized Venge Vias, Cervelo S-Series
