The Trek 6700 Disc is the first model in Trek's mountain bike range to feature the new Shimano 10 speed drivetrain, in this case a mixture of Shimano SLX and XT, giving a total of 30 gears.

The framset used is Treks Alpha Black Aluminium with a semi-integrated head tube, twin taper down tube with integrated gusset, formed top tube, wishbone seatstay, forged dropouts rack & mudguard mounts, replaceable derailleur hanger. The RockShox Recon Gold Air Fork is an upgrade over the Recon Silver fork used on the 6300 Disc, and offers 100mm travel with rebound, remote lockout, alloy steerer and remote lockout.

However, the exciting thing about this bike, as already mentioned is the new 10 speed drivetrain. 10 speed has been seen on road bikes for some time now, now Shimano has migrated this over to Mountain Bikes, and this is the most affordable bike within Trek's range featuring 10 speed transmission. The shifters are Shimano SLX, as is the front mech, with Shimano XT rear mech and chainset, for high end shifting performance.

The Avid Elxir 5 hydraulic discs offer high end braking performance, while the wheelset is tough and durable, with Shimano M525 on Bontrager Ranger rims. The 6700 Disc is completed with Bontrager Race Lite Low Riser Handlebar, a Race Lite stem and Evoke 2 saddle.

The 6700 is a terrific perfromance hardtail, with a Rockshox Recon Gold Air fork,  Avid Elixir 5 hydraulic discs and best of all, the Shimano SLX / XT 10 speed drivetrain to deliver high end trail performance hardtail.
