Trek's Alpha Gold Aluminium Frameset is a step up from the aluminium used on the 3-Series mountain bikes, as are the hydraulic discs, the 9 speed gears and the 100mm travel fork.

Alpha Gold Aluminumis lighter than the Silver Aluminium tubing used on the 3-Series hardtails, and features a semi-integrated head tube, formed down tube with integrated gusset, formed top tube, monostay seatstay, forged dropouts with rack & mudguard mounts and a replaceable derailleur hanger. This is a lot of engineering on the frameset!

The SR Suntour XCM suspension fork features a lockout, popular for riders who use their bike on the road alot during the week, but want to cut loose off road at weekends. Hayes hydraulic discs offer enhanced stopping power.

Shimano M360 9 speed shifters deliver a reliable precise shift, use in conjunction with Shimano M410 rear mech, Shimano M310 front mech and a Shimano M311 triple chainset, delivering a total of 27 gears. The bike is complimented by Bontrager saddle, bars, stem, seatpost and tyres.
