The Specialized Tricross is a very popular bike, mostly thanks to its versatility; designed along the lines of a cyclo cross bike it can be used on and off road, as a road bike, tourer or for commuting use.

The frame is constructed from Specialized's A1 Premium Aluminium, using Specialized's ' Semi-Compact Freeroad Design'. This is alters their standard compact design, with a higher bottom bracket for clearance over obstacles off road and a less pronounced slope on the top tube. The frame features rack mounts and mudguard fittings; always popular with commuters.

The transmission is provided by Shimano 2300, with the 8 Speed STI Levers and triple chainset providing 24 gears, allowing the Tricross to tackle all types of terrain. The Tricross uses cantilever brakes front and rear, and Borough XC tyres in 32mm width. These are versatile enough to offer traction off road and a smooth roll on road. If you are planning to use it primarily for either road or off road use it may be worth changing these tyres to ones more specific to the activity.
