Specialized History

Specialized were founded in 1974 by Mike Sinyard, who remains at the helm to this day. Specialized began by producing their own tyres with their first bikes being produced in 1981, in the same year came a pivotal moment when they released the first mass produced mountain bike. An original Stumpjumper is displayed in the Smithsonian Museum. In 1989 Specialized released the Epic, the world's second mass-production carbon fibre mountain bike.

Specialized Today

Specialized are one of the biggest bike brands in the world and one of the most influential. Their extensive range spans just about all categories and they sponsor some of the top riders in the sport such as 3 time world race champion Peter Sagan.
