As with all Marin's, the San Rafael is built around a high quality lightweight frame, using 6061 aluminium with Edge 3 top and downtubes and E4 anti flex seat and chain stays for a smooth and comfortable ride, complimented by the suspension fork. Importantly, the San Rafael Ladies features a step through frame, allowing for easy mounting / dismounting.

The suspension fork comes into it's own off road, on towpaths and bridleways, absorbing bumps and knocks. On the road there is little to be gained from the suspension fork, although this model does have lockout, allowing the rider to lock the fork out to behave like a rigid fork on the road, then as a suspension fork off road.

The San Rafael is equipped with 8 speed transmission, which combined with the triple chainset offers a wide range of 24 gears. The chainset also features a chainguard for protection.
