Beeline: The Men’s Turbo Vado 3.0 (in a colour that looks more charcoal than black) is part of the exceptional Turbo Vado range, offering a smooth powerful motor for a quiet ride with the power coming on seamlessly. Like all electric bikes, the speed is capped at 25 kph (approx. 15.5mph). This means that the bike does the hard part for you, assisting with acceleration from traffic lights, uphill and generally when the going is tough!
The Vado 3.0 is a ready to roll commuter, equipped with a kickstand, mudguards, pannier rack, a 300 lumen front light and a 3 LED rear light. These are all upgrades over the Vado 1.0 and 2.0 models.
One of the great features of the Vado range is the battery, which is good for 700 full recharges. To clarify, this means if it is charged for a ¼ of a full charge, this would still leave 699 & ¾! One of the re-occurring questions is of run times, but this varies according to the amount the battery is drained, but all the anecdotal evidence and reports we have received from customers is good, lasting for 6-8 hours without being fully drained. Furthermore, through the custom computer on the bars you can monitor battery usage.
This Vado 3.0 features the same long lasting 460 watt battery as the Vado 2.0, for long life and range when riding. One of the key features of the Vado range is the integration of the battery into the frame, which helps the balance of the bike for great ride characteristics and handling, using a key to easily remove and fit the battery, not to mention it looks a lot nicer than a slapped on battery!
The motor is made by Brose (who make motors and electric parts for 50% of the automotive market) and can be run in three modes: Eco, Sport and Turbo – providing 20%, 50% and 100% support respectively, and these can be adjusted with a simple toggle of a button on the bars.
The Vado 3.0 comes equipped 50mm travel suspension forks for absorption of bumps and vibrations from road or track, aided by wide 47mm tyres for a stable ride. Componentry is upgraded over the Vado 2.0, with the durable and well recognized Shimano Deore featuring. Deore 10 Speed shifters are used with a Deore Rear Mech and Shimano 11-42 cassette, for a wide range, used in conjunction with a 40T chainring for a wide range of gears. Braking is also upgraded over the 3.0 with Shimano hydraulic discs provides powerful braking.
The Vado 3.0 is ready to roll as a commuter bike, or can be used for leisure rides or going on an adventure. Whatever its usage, it delivers an enjoyable ride experience.
Specialized: If you can characterize your life as on-the-go, busy, or not having enough time, we made a bike for you—the Turbo Vado 3.0. It's made to accommodate busy lives that are always in movement, which is why we took our exclusive, award-winning pedal-assist technology and accelerated it into the future.
Beginning with the integrated Specialized 1.2 motor, the Vado proves itself as the ultimate city bike. It features a silently operating design with our Custom Rx Street tune that takes the output and makes it the most usable for the urban environment. Think of it this way: The more power you put out, the more power the motor puts out, and this makes accelerations from a standstill both quick and efficient. The belt driven motor is also smooth, silent, and free of annoying vibrations. Perfect.
For the Vado 3.0, we developed a custom 460Wh battery, the Specialized U1-460, that seamlessly integrates into the frame, is lockable, and easily removable for simplified charging. With this battery, the 3.0 will deliver a pedal-assisted boost up to 93 miles in Economy mode, 40 miles in Sport mode, and 25 miles in Turbo mode. These estimates, of course, have some assumptions—the total rider and bike weight is 220 pounds, the terrain is flat with some inclines, and there is either no wind or a light breeze. In other words, with a top speed of 28mph, there's plenty of juice to take you to and from work, make a trip to the grocery store, or to even head over to that new café on the other side of town.
We also developed a custom 2.2-inch computer with the German powerhouse, BLOKS. With this smart computer, you're able to view your battery level and toggle various ride metrics such as speed, distance, and time. You can also peruse these screens via the custom handlebar remote without ever removing your hands from the bars.
To top off all of the innovative features, we chose a worry-free spec on the Turbo Vado 3.0, so it features Shimano 10-speed components, hydraulic disc brakes, racks, and fenders.
